Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot various plumbing issues in residential settings, including leaks, clogs, pipe damage, and appliance malfunctions.
- Perform installations, repairs, and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures, water heaters, geysers, and drainage systems.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential problems and recommend preventative maintenance solutions.
- Provide accurate estimates for repairs and installations, clearly explaining work to be done and associated costs to customers.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, adheres to local plumbing codes and safety regulations, and meets Oudtshoorn Plumbers' quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle, ensuring all necessary tools and parts are available for service calls.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with clients, explaining technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including service reports and invoices, accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on new plumbing technologies and techniques.
- Handle on-call duties or emergency service requests as part of a rotation schedule.
Required Skills
- Qualified Plumber with a recognized trade certificate/qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrable experience in residential plumbing service.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Solid understanding of local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
- Valid South African driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Plumber (PIRB registration preferred).
- Experience with solar water heating systems and heat pumps.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for complex water pressure and drainage issues.
