This pivotal role demands a proactive individual dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operations within the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with local and international standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across the industrial estate to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Jamaican occupational health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, Factories Act) and relevant environmental protection laws.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to mitigate future risks.
  • Design and deliver engaging safety training programs and awareness campaigns for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all safety-related activities, including incidents, training, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on all health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Champion and promote a proactive safety culture across the entire industrial estate.
  • Manage emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety considerations into all operational processes and projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in occupational health and safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Jamaican H&S legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation techniques.
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent internationally recognized H&S qualification.
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Certified First Aid and CPR instructor.
  • Previous experience working specifically within a large industrial estate or complex manufacturing facility.
  • Project management certification or experience in leading safety-related projects.
