As a Forklift Operator – Day Shift, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various forklift trucks, including counterbalance and/or reach trucks, to load, unload, stack, and move materials, equipment, and products. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against paperwork, ensuring accuracy and preventing discrepancies. Key Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance and/or reach forklift trucks safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of goods.
- Transport products and materials to designated areas within the warehouse or production facility.
- Perform daily safety checks and basic maintenance on forklift equipment, reporting any faults or issues immediately.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against delivery notes and pick lists, ensuring accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and meet operational targets.
Required Skills
- Valid and current Forklift Operator certification (e.g., ITSSAR, RTITB, NPORS) for counterbalance and/or reach trucks.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a Forklift Operator in a busy warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong understanding and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing goods and paperwork.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for documentation and inventory checking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
- Previous experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of manual handling best practices.
