Key Responsibilities
- Systematically collect, sort, and dispose of various construction debris (e.g., wood, metal, concrete, drywall, plastic).
- Load and unload materials from trucks, bins, and other containers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work site at all times.
- Operate hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, brooms) and potentially light power tools or equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Assist other construction workers and tradespeople with various tasks as directed.
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Work effectively as part of a team to achieve project goals and maintain site cleanliness.
Required Skills
- Proven physical stamina and strength for strenuous activities.
- Ability to consistently lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Strong attention to detail for sorting materials and maintaining site organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a construction, general labour, or manual outdoor work role.
- Familiarity with waste management and recycling practices on a construction site.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Current First Aid certification.
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification.
