Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and visionary Director of Research & Development to lead our innovation initiatives in Mashonaland Central Province, Zimbabwe. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and implement the company’s long-term R&D strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of scientists, engineers, and researchers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Oversee the entire R&D project portfolio, ensuring efficient resource allocation, timeline adherence, and budget management.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and scientific breakthroughs relevant to our industry.
- Drive the conceptualization, design, development, and successful launch of new products, processes, and services.
- Establish and maintain robust intellectual property strategies, securing patents and protecting proprietary knowledge.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, marketing, sales, and regulatory affairs to ensure seamless transition of R&D projects to commercialization.
- Ensure all research and development activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, scientific forums, and collaborate with external partners and academic institutions.
Required Skills
- PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biotechnology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D leadership roles, with at least 5 years at a senior management level.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully bringing new products or technologies from concept to market.
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills with a results-oriented approach.
- Exceptional leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proven expertise in project management, budget control, and resource optimization.
- In-depth understanding of intellectual property management and regulatory compliance.
