Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Power BI Specialist to join our dynamic analytics team. This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to work remotely from anywhere within the United States while contributing to the critical mission of UCHealth, with Aurora, Colorado serving as our primary base of operations and hiring location. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights, driving strategic decisions, and improving patient outcomes across our extensive network.
As a Power BI Specialist, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of business intelligence solutions, from requirements gathering and data modeling to report development and deployment. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including clinical, operational, and administrative teams, to understand their data needs and translate them into robust, user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports. This role demands a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for data visualization. You will play a key role in standardizing reporting practices, ensuring data accuracy, and fostering a data-driven culture within UCHealth. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to meet diverse business requirements.
- Connect to various data sources, perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using Power Query and other tools.
- Develop and optimize robust data models (star schema, snowflake schema) within Power BI Desktop to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Write complex DAX formulas to create calculated columns, measures, and tables that support sophisticated analytical requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather and analyze reporting requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all Power BI solutions, implementing validation and reconciliation processes.
- Publish, manage, and secure Power BI reports and dashboards on the Power BI Service, including setting up data gateways and refresh schedules.
- Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI usage, best practices, and data interpretation.
- Monitor Power BI performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to enhance user experience.
- Stay current with the latest Power BI features, Microsoft data platform updates, and industry best practices in data visualization and analytics.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience developing and deploying solutions with Microsoft Power BI.
- Expertise in Power BI Desktop, including data modeling, DAX, and M-language (Power Query).
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Demonstrated ability to design effective and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience in the healthcare industry or with healthcare data (e.g., EMR data, claims data, operational data).
- Familiarity with other Microsoft data platform tools such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Experience with data governance and data security best practices.
- Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate certification.
