Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided vehicle for deliveries within Savanna-la-Mar and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to planned delivery routes and schedules, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, manifests, electronic proof of delivery, and other required documentation.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, dispatch, and warehouse staff, acting as a brand ambassador.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Handle and transport various types of cargo, ensuring goods are delivered in excellent condition.
- Assist with light warehouse duties as needed, including sorting and organizing packages.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries or concerns professionally and escalating when necessary.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica)
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role
- Excellent knowledge of Savanna-la-Mar and surrounding Westmoreland routes and roadways
- Strong ability to safely operate a light to medium commercial vehicle
- Good physical condition, capable of lifting and moving packages up to 50 lbs consistently
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interaction
- Punctual, reliable, and possessing a strong work ethic
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge for routine checks and issue reporting
- Clean driving record, free of major infractions
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent G.C.E. certification
- Defensive driving certification or advanced driving course completion
- Experience with handheld delivery devices, GPS systems, or route optimization software
- Familiarity with logistics software or mobile applications for delivery management
