Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and ethical investigations using a variety of methods, including interviews, data analysis, and public records requests.
  • Cultivate and maintain a network of reliable sources while protecting their anonymity when necessary.
  • Verify facts, cross-reference information, and ensure the accuracy of all reported content.
  • Write compelling, well-structured, and balanced investigative reports for publication across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with editors, legal counsel, and other team members to refine stories and address potential issues.
  • Stay informed on current events, social issues, and potential areas for investigation within Germany and internationally.
  • Adhere to strict journalistic ethics, legal guidelines, and company standards.
  • Present findings clearly and concisely, adapting communication for different audiences.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience as an investigative reporter or in a similar journalistic role.
  • Proven track record of successful investigative journalism with published work.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interviewing and source development abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German (native or near-native proficiency).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and experience with public records requests.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a flexible work arrangement.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to journalistic integrity.
  • Proficiency with journalistic tools and software for research and content creation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Law, or a related field.
