Career.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and dedicated Gardener to join our facilities team in Henrietta, Vacoas-Phoenix. This crucial role is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and enhancement of our outdoor spaces, ensuring our compound consistently presents a professional, aesthetic, and welcoming environment for all visitors and employees. As our Landscaping and Compound Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the beauty and health of our gardens, lawns, and overall exterior grounds. This involves a wide array of horticultural tasks, from detailed plant care and sophisticated landscaping projects to routine groundskeeping duties. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular mowing, weeding, pruning, and trimming of lawns, hedges, shrubs, and trees.
  • Planting new flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants as per seasonal and design requirements.
  • Implement and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring efficient watering practices.
  • Monitor plant health, identify and treat pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Maintain all gardening tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring safety and longevity.
  • Carry out general compound upkeep, including sweeping pathways, clearing debris, and ensuring cleanliness of outdoor areas.
  • Develop and execute landscaping projects, including garden design, planting schemes, and hardscaping elements as required.
  • Manage waste removal and composting of organic materials.
  • Adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations in all gardening and landscaping activities.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to garden design, plant selection, and maintenance practices.
  • Collaborate with the facilities management team to ensure integrated upkeep of the property.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Gardener or Landscaper, with a strong portfolio if available.
  • In-depth knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and local flora in Mauritius.
  • Proficiency in operating various gardening tools and equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
  • Understanding of irrigation systems and water conservation techniques.
  • Ability to identify and address common plant diseases and pests.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or diploma in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable gardening practices.
  • Basic knowledge of garden design principles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
