Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Hotel Receptionist to join our dedicated front desk and reservations team at Gold Crest Hotel. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process.
- Manage all hotel reservations, including processing bookings, modifications, and cancellations via phone, email, and various online platforms.
- Accurately assign rooms, manage room inventory, and ensure guest preferences are noted and accommodated where possible.
- Provide comprehensive information about hotel services, amenities, local attractions, and transportation options.
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally, striving for swift and satisfactory resolutions.
- Process payments, manage cash and credit card transactions, and maintain accurate billing records.
- Perform efficient check-out procedures, assisting guests with final invoices and collecting feedback.
- Maintain a tidy and organised front desk and lobby area, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere at all times.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments such as housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance to fulfill guest requests.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing reports, managing correspondence, and handling incoming calls.
- Ensure strict adherence to all hotel policies, safety protocols, and data privacy regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a similar front desk or customer service role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French; Creole proficiency is a significant advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional, and empathetic demeanor.
- Proficiency in hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) and general office software (MS Office Suite).
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to remain calm and resourceful under pressure.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions and guest information.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Hotel Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Experience with specific PMS software such as Opera, Fidelio, or similar.
- Proficiency in additional languages beyond English and French.
- Knowledge of local attractions and cultural nuances of Mauritius to enhance guest experience.
