Switch Networks is on the lookout for a dedicated Home-Based Cloud Operations Technician to join our expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the backbone of our clients’ critical IT infrastructure from the comfort of your home, while remaining an integral part of our collaborative Brighton-based team.
As a Home-Based Cloud Operations Technician, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day management, monitoring, and support of our clients’ cloud environments, primarily focusing on Microsoft Azure and Office 365, with exposure to other cloud platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and availability of cloud services, proactively identifying and resolving issues, and implementing best practices for cloud operations. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cloud infrastructure (Azure, Office 365) for performance, security, and availability issues.
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents related to cloud services and applications.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patching of cloud environments.
- Implement and manage cloud security measures, including access controls and threat protection.
- Assist with the deployment and configuration of new cloud resources and services.
- Provide technical support to clients for cloud-related queries and issues.
- Document cloud configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and architects on cloud projects and migrations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incident response (if required).
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT operations or cloud support roles.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure administration and management.
- Strong understanding of Office 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams).
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs) in a cloud context.
- Experience with monitoring tools and incident management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for remote work.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
- Experience with automation tools like Azure DevOps or Terraform.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
- Previous experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
