Career.zycto is on the hunt for a passionate, driven, and exceptionally talented A&R Talent Scout to join our vibrant team in Newcastle upon Tyne. As an A&R Talent Scout, you will be the eyes and ears of our organisation, immersed in the local and national music scenes, constantly seeking out the next big thing. You’ll spend your time attending gigs, showcases, and industry events, building relationships with artists, producers, managers, and other key figures in the music world. You’ll be responsible for evaluating demos, tracking social media trends, and utilising various data sources to identify promising acts. Beyond mere discovery, you’ll work closely with signed artists, providing creative feedback, facilitating collaborations, and ensuring their artistic vision aligns with their career trajectory. You will champion their work internally, preparing pitches, presentations, and strategic plans that showcase their potential to our executive team and external partners. Your profound understanding of music genres, market trends, and the artist’s journey will be pivotal in making informed decisions that shape our roster and contribute to the success of both our artists and Career.zycto. Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout and identify emerging musical talent across various genres through live performances, online platforms, and industry networks.
- Build and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, including artists, managers, producers, promoters, and booking agents.
- Evaluate demo submissions, artist portfolios, and digital presence to assess artistic merit, commercial viability, and career potential.
- Attend live shows, showcases, and music festivals regularly to discover new acts and keep abreast of industry trends.
- Provide constructive creative feedback and guidance to artists on their material, performance, and overall artistic direction.
- Collaborate with marketing, publicity, and artist development teams to strategise and execute launch plans for new signings.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, pitches, and presentations on potential signings for internal review and executive approval.
- Negotiate and manage artist contracts, ensuring favourable terms for both the artist and Career.zycto.
- Stay informed about music industry developments, competitor activities, and evolving consumer tastes.
- Represent Career.zycto at industry events, fostering relationships and enhancing our brand reputation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an A&R scout or in a related talent discovery role within the music industry.
- Exceptional ear for identifying raw talent and an in-depth knowledge of current music trends and genres.
- Extensive network within the UK music scene, particularly in the North East.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated passion for music and artist development.
- Proficiency in digital music platforms, social media, and industry analytics tools.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Management, or a related field.
- Experience with artist contract negotiation and intellectual property rights.
- Familiarity with music production processes and recording studio environments.
- Track record of successful artist signings and development.
