Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Hospital Cleaner to join our dedicated Facilities Management team at Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital. As a Hospital Cleaner, you will be a vital part of our mission to maintain an exceptionally clean, safe, and sterile environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Your efforts directly contribute to infection control and the overall positive experience of everyone within our premises. You will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting various areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, operating theaters, waiting areas, offices, and restrooms, ensuring all surfaces are free from contaminants. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of patient rooms, operating theatres, laboratories, waiting areas, corridors, restrooms, and offices according to hospital standards and infection control policies.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and carpet shampooers safely and effectively.
- Empty and dispose of waste, including general waste and hazardous waste, following strict biohazard disposal procedures.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in all designated areas.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and infection control guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards observed during cleaning tasks to the supervisor promptly.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when new supplies are needed.
- Work collaboratively with other hospital staff to ensure a seamless and efficient operation.
- Respond to urgent cleaning requests efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all cleaning activities are documented accurately as required by hospital protocol.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to follow instructions and procedures meticulously.
- Strong understanding of cleaning techniques and cleaning agents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety standards, particularly in a healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience (1+ year) in a cleaning role, preferably within a hospital or healthcare facility.

- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Sesotho.
