Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly creative, technically adept, and innovative Lighting Designer & Stage Setup Specialist to become a vital part of a forward-thinking team embedded within Nairobi’s flourishing entertainment and live event production landscape. This pivotal role demands an individual who can not only envision but also meticulously execute cutting-edge lighting schemes that transform ordinary stage performances, high-stakes corporate events, electrifying concerts, and engaging live shows into truly immersive and unforgettable visual spectacles.

As our Lighting Designer & Stage Setup Specialist, you will operate as the indispensable maestro of light, tasked with translating abstract artistic visions and thematic concepts into tangible, stunning realities. Your collaborative spirit will be essential as you work hand-in-hand with directors, producers, sound engineers, scenic designers, and production managers. Together, you will delve deep into understanding the intricate thematic, emotional, and practical goals of each unique project. Your responsibilities will span the entire creative and technical lifecycle: from initial concept development, often utilizing sophisticated CAD and lighting visualization software, through to the precise rigging, installation, meticulous programming, and flawless operation of complex lighting systems. Your unwavering expertise will be the guarantee that every beam, every hue, and every dynamic effect perfectly complements the narrative, enhances the mood, and elevates the overall atmosphere.

This position transcends mere technical operation; it is about the profound art of crafting an experience. You will be entrusted with the management, maintenance, and deployment of a diverse array of advanced lighting equipment, including intelligent moving fixtures, conventional theatrical lights, versatile LED panels, cutting-edge laser systems, and state-of-the-art control consoles. Ensuring optimal functionality, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient inventory management will be continuous duties. Your typical workday could fluidly shift from designing a dramatically impactful theatrical backdrop, to orchestrating an energetic and synchronized light show for a major concert, or meticulously setting the refined and elegant ambiance for a high-profile corporate gala. Exceptional problem-solving abilities are not just preferred but essential, as you will frequently troubleshoot technical issues under pressure and adeptly adapt designs to unforeseen challenges, budget constraints, or unique venue limitations.

This role presents an unparalleled opportunity to make a significant, tangible impact on a diverse portfolio of events, consistently pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and consistently leaving audiences captivated and enthralled by your masterful artistry. If your passion lies in bringing stages to life with light and you possess the technical acumen to robustly support your expansive creative flair, we wholeheartedly invite you to illuminate your career path with us.
