Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily personal care activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Support patient mobility, transfers, and positioning using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs, intake/output, and report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms, common areas, and medical equipment.
- Assist nurses and other medical professionals with procedures and treatments under direct supervision.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of medical supplies, linen, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Transport patients, specimens, and equipment safely within the hospital premises.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting and respectful environment.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, health and safety regulations, and infection control protocols.
- Document care provided and observations accurately and promptly in patient records.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable empathy and compassion for patients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.

Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Prior experience (at least 6 months) in a hospital, clinic, or elderly care setting.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Sepedi, Tsonga) relevant to the Polokwane community.
- Completion of a recognized Healthcare Assistant or Auxiliary Nurse training program.
