Job Description
Tanganda Tea Company Limited is seeking a highly strategic, results-oriented, and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive leadership team. Based in Mutare, Manicaland Province, this pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of our diverse agricultural and manufacturing operations. The COO will work closely with the CEO and other executive leaders to drive operational efficiency, enhance productivity, and ensure the seamless execution of our strategic objectives across all business units.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agricultural practices, manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and financial acumen. You will be instrumental in optimizing our tea estates, macadamia farms, avocado orchards, coffee plantations, and timber operations, ensuring that all aspects of production, processing, and distribution meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This role demands a visionary leader capable of fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability. You will lead and mentor a large team, developing robust operational strategies that support growth, profitability, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's overall vision and objectives.
- Oversee all daily operations of the company, including agriculture (tea, macadamia, avocado, coffee), processing plants, forestry, and logistics.
- Drive operational efficiency and productivity improvements across all business units.
- Manage the company's supply chain, ensuring optimal inventory levels, efficient procurement, and timely distribution.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operational team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Monitor performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, particularly in food safety and environmental stewardship.
- Identify and implement new technologies and process improvements to enhance operational capabilities.
- Manage operational budgets, optimize resource allocation, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the CEO and other executives to formulate and execute long-term strategic plans.
- Oversee risk management and crisis resolution for operational issues.
- Drive sustainability initiatives within operations, focusing on environmental impact and community engagement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or similar senior executive role.
- Extensive experience in agricultural operations, manufacturing, and supply chain management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex operational strategies.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management and cost control.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing talent.
- Proficiency in operational analysis, performance metrics, and process optimization techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in relevant enterprise software and operational management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Experience in the tea or beverage industry.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and export procedures.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
