Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and daily production sheets.
  • Wash, peel, chop, slice, and dice various vegetables, fruits, and other food items.
  • Assist cooks and chefs with basic food preparation tasks, including measuring and mixing.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work area, including utensils, equipment, and storage spaces.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., HACCP, local health codes).
  • Stock and replenish food items, supplies, and condiments in designated areas.
  • Monitor food freshness and quality, reporting any discrepancies or issues to kitchen management.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and properly storing food deliveries.
  • Perform dishwashing duties and general kitchen clean-up tasks as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with all kitchen staff to ensure efficient service delivery and a smooth workflow.

Required Skills

  • Basic knife skills and foundational food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to food safety and hygiene practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months to 1 year) in a kitchen, cafeteria, or other food service setting.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate (e.g., issued by a local health unit).
  • Familiarity with diverse ingredients and basic cooking methods.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, which may include evenings or weekends as needed.
