Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrical Engineer with a specialized focus on Power Systems and Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Lisburn Road, Belfast. This pivotal role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our power systems across various industrial and commercial settings. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, control panels, and automation solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, EN standards).
  • Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on complex electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, motors, and control circuits.
  • Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation.
  • Manage and oversee electrical projects from conception through to commissioning, adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, and other engineering systems.
  • Ensure all work adheres to strict health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams and operational staff.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing power systems and maintenance practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrable experience in power systems engineering and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations, including 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) for electrical design.
  • Experience with protective relays, circuit breakers, and power system analysis tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant specialization.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage systems and distribution networks.
  • Project management experience within an industrial or utilities environment.
  • Experience with energy management systems and sustainable power solutions.
