Key Responsibilities

  • Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a wide range of mechanical plant equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical faults, identify root causes, and implement effective, lasting repair solutions.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of new mechanical assets.
  • Conduct regular inspections and performance assessments of machinery to ensure optimal operation and compliance.
  • Collaborate with production and operational teams to optimize equipment utilization and process efficiency.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available for repairs and maintenance.
  • Develop and update maintenance procedures, technical documentation, and equipment manuals.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending upgrades and modifications to enhance plant reliability and safety.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and operational staff.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in mechanical engineering within a plant operations or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, and power transmission systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing complex mechanical failures and executing repairs.
  • Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong commitment to safety and understanding of industrial safety protocols.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in project management for equipment upgrades or plant modifications.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
