Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results-oriented Maintenance Supervisor to join our dedicated team stationed in Ha Tšiu, Maseru. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring optimal performance, continuous skill development, and strict adherence to all established safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for a wide array of assets including pumps, motors, valves, intricate pipeline networks, water and wastewater treatment plants, and other critical infrastructure components.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to all maintenance requests and system breakdowns, accurately diagnosing faults, and coordinating rapid, efficient repairs to minimise service disruption and ensure continuity.
  • Manage maintenance budgets diligently, control the inventory of spare parts, essential tools, and specialised equipment, ensuring optimal availability while simultaneously striving to optimise costs and resource utilisation.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities rigorously comply with WASCO policies, national safety regulations, stringent environmental standards, and relevant industry best practices and quality benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular, thorough inspections of facilities and equipment, proactively identifying potential issues, assessing risks, and recommending timely and effective corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports on all maintenance activities, equipment performance metrics, team productivity, and budget adherence for management review.
  • Collaborate effectively with other internal departments, including Operations and Engineering, to strategically plan and flawlessly execute projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Implement and maintain a robust Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), leveraging technology to efficiently track assets, schedule tasks, and manage work orders.
  • Actively participate in emergency response efforts related to critical water and sewerage infrastructure failures, providing expert guidance and hands-on support.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a maintenance department, preferably in a utility, heavy industrial, or infrastructure management setting.
  • Strong technical background and hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or civil maintenance, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically plan, efficiently organise, and flawlessly execute complex maintenance tasks and projects.
  • Proficiency in utilising Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for scheduling, asset tracking, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding and practical application of health and safety regulations pertinent to industrial and public utility environments (e.g., OHS Act).
  • Advanced ability to diagnose technical problems quickly and accurately, and to implement effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to various sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related technical field from a recognised institution.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or lean methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt).
  • Extensive experience with SCADA systems and process instrumentation for monitoring and control of utility infrastructure.
  • In-depth familiarity with water treatment processes, wastewater treatment processes, and comprehensive network distribution systems.
  • Previous experience working specifically within a public utility company, demonstrating an understanding of regulatory environments and public service delivery.
