Key Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor, and manage departmental and organisational budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Perform regular and thorough reconciliation of bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including budget versus actual analysis, cash flow statements, and other ad-hoc reports for senior management.
- Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Process invoices, expenses, and payroll-related transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain robust financial controls and procedures, continually seeking opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data, provide financial guidance, and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (e.g., FRS 102), and internal policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar finance role, with a strong focus on budgeting and accounts reconciliation.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis) are essential.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (e.g., double-entry bookkeeping) and financial reporting standards.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of explaining complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Part-qualification in a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, AAT Level 4).
- Experience within the recruitment or professional services industry.
