Pearson is seeking a talented Remote Instructional Designer with a flexible schedule to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and iterating on cutting-edge digital learning content that empowers learners of all ages and backgrounds. Working remotely, you’ll collaborate closely with subject matter experts, content developers, multimedia specialists, and product managers to translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and interactive educational materials. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop engaging, effective, and innovative digital learning experiences for diverse audiences and subject matters.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define learning objectives, scope content, and gather necessary information.
- Apply adult learning theories, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and cognitive science principles to create learner-centered content.
- Develop detailed design documents, storyboards, scripts, and interactive prototypes for various learning modalities (e.g., e-learning modules, virtual instructor-led training, microlearning).
- Integrate multimedia elements (graphics, audio, video, animations) and interactive activities to enhance engagement and retention.
- Conduct thorough reviews and quality assurance of instructional materials to ensure accuracy, pedagogical soundness, accessibility (WCAG 2.1), and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Utilize authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Captivate, or similar platforms to build and publish course content.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from stakeholders, learner analytics, and ongoing evaluation.
- Stay current with emerging instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or corporate training.
- Proven expertise in applying adult learning theories (e.g., Andragogy, Gagne's Nine Events) and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Proficiency with industry-standard e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate).
- Strong understanding of learning technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and SCORM/xAPI standards.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in developing engaging and interactive multimedia learning experiences.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating instructional design capabilities and successful learning solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a large-scale educational publishing or technology company.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for basic asset creation.
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and designing inclusive learning content.
- Certification in project management or specific instructional design methodologies.
