As an integral member of our partner’s team, you will be at the forefront of diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide spectrum of disorders, injuries, and diseases affecting the eye and visual system. Your daily responsibilities will encompass performing comprehensive eye examinations, accurately prescribing and fitting corrective lenses, and offering crucial, personalized advice on maintaining optimal eye health and hygiene. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess ocular health and visual acuity.
  • Diagnose and manage various ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries.
  • Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery patients.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens handling, and general eye health.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient management.
  • Utilize and interpret results from diagnostic equipment such as OCT, visual fields, and retinal photography.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and stay updated with advancements in optometry.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent.
  • Valid license to practice Optometry in Mauritius.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an Optometrist.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and French/Creole.
  • Proficiency in using optometric diagnostic and examination equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization or advanced training in specific areas (e.g., contact lenses, low vision, pediatric optometry).
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
