This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our growing employee base. Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and relevant legislation (CRA, EI, CPP, WSIB, etc.).
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, liaising with benefits providers as needed.
- Prepare and submit payroll remittances, T4s, and other statutory filings within prescribed deadlines.
- Reconcile payroll accounts, general ledger entries, and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records and data within the HRIS.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and tax-related matters in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with year-end payroll procedures, audits, and internal control reviews.
- Generate various payroll reports for management, HR, and finance departments as required.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation, employment standards, and best practices to ensure continuous compliance.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of direct payroll processing experience in Canada.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, provincial employment standards (Ontario), and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Workday) and HRIS.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or working towards it.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources.
- Experience with a specific HRIS system like ADP Workforce Now or similar.
- Experience in a fast-paced or high-volume payroll environment.
