Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and materials required.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood components to create furniture, cabinets, doors, window frames, and other bespoke items.
- Install finished products, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality.
- Select and prepare appropriate timber and other materials, considering grain, strength, and aesthetic qualities.
- Operate a variety of woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely and proficiently.
- Perform sanding, staining, varnishing, and other finishing techniques to achieve desired aesthetic and protective qualities.
- Inspect and repair existing wooden structures and furniture.
- Collaborate with designers, architects, and clients to understand project requirements and provide expert advice.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Manage project timelines efficiently and adhere to quality standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, specifically in woodwork and furniture making.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Expertise in various woodworking techniques including joinery, laminating, and assembly.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and stationary woodworking machinery.
- Strong understanding of different timber types, their properties, and applications.
