Key Responsibilities

  • Execute various construction tasks including bricklaying, plastering, concreting, and basic carpentry.
  • Interpret and accurately follow blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
  • Prepare and maintain clean and safe construction sites, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Operate a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the erection of scaffolding, temporary structures, and site hoardings when required.
  • Handle, load, and unload construction materials with care and precision.
  • Collaborate effectively with other trades, sub-contractors, and team members.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on site equipment and tools.
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of work quality and attention to detail in all tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Builder or skilled Labourer on active construction sites.
  • Proficiency in various construction techniques relevant to residential and commercial builds (e.g., groundwork, bricklaying, blockwork).
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of health and safety regulations in construction.
  • Competence in using a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrated physical strength, stamina, and agility for demanding manual labour.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction trade.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Experience operating specific heavy machinery (e.g., mini-digger, forklift) with relevant tickets.
  • Previous experience with sustainable building practices or green construction.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
