Job Description
We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Director of Operations to lead the strategic planning, execution, and optimization of all operational aspects at Blanket Mine. This senior leadership role is critical to ensuring the mine’s continued success, efficiency, and growth, aligning closely with Caledonia Mining Corporation’s overarching business objectives. The Director of Operations will be instrumental in driving productivity, managing costs, enhancing safety protocols, and fostering a high-performance culture across all operational departments. You will provide strategic direction for mining, processing, engineering, and support services, ensuring that all activities comply with national and international regulatory standards, environmental best practices, and the company’s stringent internal policies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to achieve production targets, cost efficiencies, and quality standards for the mine.
- Oversee all mining activities, including underground development, production, and ore extraction, ensuring optimal resource utilization and efficiency.
- Manage the processing plant operations, focusing on gold recovery rates, equipment uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of operational managers and employees, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, company policies, and best industry practices.
- Manage operational budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control measures to ensure profitability and effective resource allocation.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and operational methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with other departments, including geology, finance, human resources, and community relations, to ensure integrated operational success.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions to address operational shortfalls or opportunities for improvement.
- Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, and industry partners on operational matters.
