Career.zycto is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Event Decorator to join our vibrant team in Roath, Cardiff. As an Event Decorator, you will be instrumental in designing, setting up, and styling various venues for a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and public gatherings. You will work closely with clients, understanding their visions and translating them into tangible, stunning décor plans. Your role will involve everything from conceptualising themes and selecting colour palettes to sourcing props, managing inventory, and meticulously executing installations. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand event objectives, themes, and aesthetic preferences, translating concepts into actionable design plans.
- Develop innovative and cohesive décor concepts, including mood boards, colour palettes, and detailed setup schematics.
- Source, procure, and manage inventory of decorative items, props, furniture, linens, and floral elements, ensuring quality and availability.
- Execute on-site setup and styling of event venues, meticulously implementing designs according to approved plans and timelines.
- Supervise and coordinate junior staff or temporary crews during installation and dismantling processes, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Maintain accurate records of décor inventory, usage, and condition, managing logistics for transportation.
- Ensure all decorations meet safety standards and client expectations, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
- Manage the logistics for transportation, installation, and removal of all decorative elements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and clear communication throughout the entire event lifecycle, from initial consultation to post-event breakdown.
- Adapt décor plans in response to unforeseen challenges, budget constraints, or last-minute client requests, maintaining high quality and aesthetic integrity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as an Event Decorator, Stylist, or similar creative role within the events industry.
- Exceptional creativity, artistic flair, and a keen eye for aesthetics, colour theory, and spatial design.
- Strong portfolio showcasing diverse event décor projects and design capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) is highly advantageous for creating visual concepts.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Physical stamina and dexterity required for extensive periods of standing, lifting, carrying, and setting up decorative elements.
- A proactive problem-solving attitude and adaptability to changing circumstances and demands.
- Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport is preferred for travel to various event venues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Event Management, Interior Design, Floral Design, Visual Arts, or a related creative field.
- Experience with CAD software for venue layout planning and visualization.
- Certification in relevant health and safety practices for event setup and dismantling.
- Experience working with various types of events, including corporate, weddings, and private parties.
- Fluency in Welsh is considered a bonus, given the location in Roath, Cardiff.
