Career.zycto is actively seeking motivated and enthusiastic Supermarket Staff to join a vibrant team at a leading retail establishment located within the bustling Le Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis. This dual-role position encompasses both Cashier and Stock responsibilities, offering a comprehensive retail experience and ensuring a dynamic work environment where no two days are truly the same. As a vital member of the team, you will be the face of the store, directly interacting with customers and playing a crucial role in maintaining an organized and inviting shopping experience.

Your primary duties will involve accurate and efficient processing of customer transactions, handling various payment methods, and providing exceptional customer service with a friendly and helpful demeanor. Simultaneously, you will contribute significantly to stock management, including receiving, sorting, stocking shelves, and ensuring product availability. This role requires individuals who are detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and are capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions.
  • Process customer purchases, apply discounts, and issue receipts.
  • Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide information about products and promotions.
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues professionally and escalate as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
  • Receive incoming inventory, verifying quantities against delivery notes and checking for damages.
  • Unpack, sort, and label products according to store procedures.
  • Stock shelves, display cases, and freezers neatly and according to planograms.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify out-of-stock items, and assist with inventory counts.
  • Ensure products are correctly priced and rotated to minimize waste.
  • Assist with merchandising efforts to create attractive and effective product displays.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the store, including aisles and stockrooms.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, especially for food handling.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and achieve sales targets.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in retail or hospitality.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and inventory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 15-20 kg).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating a POS system or cash register.
  • Familiarity with stock management and merchandising principles.
  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English and French (Creole is a plus).
