Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to join our dedicated team in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record of successfully overseeing construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and budgetary constraints. Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of construction workers, including labourers, craftspeople, and other on-site personnel.
- Plan and prepare daily work schedules, allocate tasks, and ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities and project goals.
- Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to blueprints, specifications, and construction schedules, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions.
- Implement and enforce strict safety regulations and procedures on the job site, conducting regular safety briefings and ensuring all workers comply with health and safety standards.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure quality standards are met, identifying and rectifying any deficiencies promptly.
- Operate and oversee the maintenance of construction equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order and used safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of daily progress, labour hours, material usage, and equipment logs.
- Act as a primary point of contact between the project manager, engineers, and on-site crew, communicating instructions and reporting on site conditions and progress.
- Resolve on-site conflicts or issues among workers, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Order and manage materials and supplies, ensuring their timely delivery and proper storage to avoid waste and maintain project flow.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a Construction Foreman or a similar supervisory role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and reporting (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and demanding construction environments.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
- OSHA or equivalent safety certification.
- Experience with project management software.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Fluent in both English and Swahili.
