Job Description
Maliba Mountain Lodge is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Housekeeper to join our esteemed team. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and aesthetic appeal across all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities within our Linakeng operations. As a Housekeeper, you will play a crucial part in creating an inviting, comfortable, and memorable experience for our guests, reflecting the luxury and tranquility that Maliba Mountain Lodge is renowned for. Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of all guest rooms, including bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas, ensuring they meet Maliba Mountain Lodge's exacting five-star standards.
- Change linens, make beds, and replenish all room amenities according to established procedures.
- Clean and maintain public areas such as lounges, dining rooms, reception, restrooms, and corridors, ensuring they are always welcoming and spotless.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors, ensuring all surfaces are pristine and well-maintained.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and fittings, paying close attention to detail and preventing any accumulation.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or missing items promptly to the relevant department for immediate action.
- Handle guest requests politely and efficiently, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction while respecting privacy.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
- Manage and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and stored properly.
- Contribute to laundry operations when required, sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens and towels.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and guest room amenities, communicating needs to supervisors to ensure adequate stock.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working relationship with other lodge staff to ensure seamless operations and guest service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in housekeeping or a similar cleaning role, preferably within a hospitality environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 20kg), and standing for extended periods.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a cohesive team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety protocols and proper chemical usage.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to understand and follow instructions clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a luxury hotel or lodge setting.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning practices and sustainable operations.
- Fluency in Sesotho and working knowledge of English.
- A friendly, professional, and discreet demeanor, respecting guest privacy and lodge protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
