Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional and visionary Director of Research & Development to lead our innovation initiatives in Chimanimani, Manicaland Province. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in guiding complex R&D projects from conceptualization through to successful implementation. Key Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and execute the overall R&D strategy and roadmap, aligning with company vision and market needs.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of all R&D projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, research trends, and potential partnerships to enhance innovation capabilities.
- Manage the R&D budget, resources, and intellectual property portfolio.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, operations, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of R&D outputs.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external research institutions, government bodies, and industry experts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and ethical guidelines in research activities.
- Present R&D progress, findings, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Agronomy).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a director-level position.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing innovative products or solutions to market.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight for R&D initiatives.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to various audiences.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, experimental design, and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a developing economy context, particularly in Southern Africa.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law and patent application processes.
- Prior experience in sustainable technology, agriculture, mining, or related industries relevant to the Manicaland region.
- Strong network within scientific, academic, or industrial communities in Zimbabwe or Southern Africa.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP) or equivalent.
