As a Paramedic – Emergency Medical Response, you will be at the forefront of medical emergencies, responding rapidly to 999 calls, assessing patient conditions, and administering life-saving treatment in dynamic and often unpredictable scenarios. You will utilize your advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and decisive judgment to stabilize patients, manage acute medical conditions, traumatic injuries, and cardiac arrests. Your day will involve navigating London’s diverse communities, working autonomously or as part of a crew, providing care ranging from minor injuries to critical interventions, and ensuring safe and timely transport to appropriate medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond rapidly and safely to emergency calls (999 incidents) across Brixton and surrounding areas.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury.
- Administer advanced life support, including medication administration, airway management, fluid resuscitation, and cardiac interventions, in line with established protocols.
- Effectively manage a diverse range of medical and trauma emergencies, including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, strokes, and major incidents.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently under various road and weather conditions.
- Liaise and collaborate effectively with other emergency services (Police, Fire), healthcare professionals, and social care agencies.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients and their families, often in highly stressful situations.
- Accurately complete patient care records, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Maintain readiness of medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles, performing daily checks and ensuring proper cleaning and restocking.
- Adhere strictly to clinical guidelines, legal requirements, and professional standards of practice.
Required Skills
- HCPC registration as a Paramedic.
- Full UK driving license with C1 category entitlement (or willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrable experience (minimum 2 years post-registration) in an emergency pre-hospital setting.
- Excellent clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Proficiency in advanced life support techniques and emergency interventions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and reassure.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Resilience and adaptability to rapidly changing environments and critical situations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
Preferred Qualifications
- ALS/PALS/APLS certification.
- Emergency Driving Qualification (e.g., IHCD D1/D2).
