Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aircraft Engineering Support Technician to join our growing team in Spryfield, Halifax. This critical role provides essential technical assistance and support to our aircraft engineering and maintenance teams, ensuring the continued airworthiness, reliability, and operational readiness of our fleet. As an Aircraft Engineering Support Technician, you will be deeply involved in the lifecycle of aircraft systems, from initial troubleshooting and diagnosis to the implementation of complex repairs and modifications. Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to aircraft maintenance teams on complex engineering issues.
- Assist in the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and rectification of faults in aircraft mechanical, electrical, avionics, and structural systems.
- Interpret and apply technical data, including engineering drawings, schematics, service bulletins, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and maintenance manuals.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate technical documentation, work instructions, and maintenance records in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering changes, modifications, and repairs to aircraft components and systems.
- Conduct inspections and perform quality checks to ensure compliance with company standards and aviation regulations (e.g., Transport Canada).
- Operate and calibrate specialized test equipment and tools for diagnostics and verification.
- Participate in root cause analysis for recurring defects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as required for technical clarification and support.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and best practices within the maintenance environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years (48 months) of experience in an aircraft maintenance or engineering support role.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of aircraft systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, avionics).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of aviation regulatory requirements (e.g., Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations – TCCARs).
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and team collaboration.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering Technology, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME), or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with specific aircraft types (e.g., commercial jet, regional turboprop, general aviation) relevant to our operations.
- Familiarity with aircraft maintenance tracking software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Holds a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license, or significant progress towards obtaining one.
- Experience in a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment.
