Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent growth initiatives in Chitungwiza, Harare Province. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping our organizational culture, driving employee engagement, and ensuring our workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet current and future business objectives. As the Director, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning strategies and programs that align with our company’s mission and values. You will champion a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and innovation, empowering our employees at all levels to thrive. This includes identifying skill gaps, developing bespoke training modules, leveraging cutting-edge learning technologies, and measuring the tangible impact of L&D interventions. This is a unique opportunity to build and scale an impactful L&D function from the ground up, influencing strategic decision-making and contributing directly to our organizational success and employee satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with Career.zycto’s business goals and talent objectives.
  • Design, implement, and manage a wide range of learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, onboarding, and soft skills workshops.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing L&D team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Identify current and future skill gaps across the organization through needs assessments and talent analytics.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of L&D initiatives using relevant metrics and KPIs, providing data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Research and integrate innovative learning technologies and methodologies, including e-learning platforms, blended learning approaches, and virtual reality training.
  • Partner with senior leadership and department heads to understand specific development needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Manage the L&D budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and ROI for all programs.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth throughout the organization.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 3 years in a leadership/managerial role.
  • Proven track record of designing, implementing, and evaluating large-scale L&D programs in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design principles, and modern learning technologies.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and measure the effectiveness of L&D initiatives.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Certifications in instructional design, coaching, talent assessment, or change management (e.g., ATD, SHRM-CP/SCP).
  • Experience working within a consulting firm or a rapidly growing organization.
  • Familiarity with the specific market and talent landscape in Zimbabwe.
