Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated School Cleaner & Maintenance Support professional on behalf of one of our esteemed educational partners in West Pokot County. Your day-to-day will involve a balanced mix of comprehensive cleaning duties and essential minor maintenance tasks. Beyond routine cleaning, you’ll be the first line of defense against minor wear and tear, performing small repairs that keep the school running smoothly. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and polishing of floors, walls, and furniture in classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and staff facilities thoroughly, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and replenishing supplies as needed.
- Empty waste bins and manage proper waste disposal and recycling in accordance with school policies.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, mending small leaks, and ensuring doors and windows are in good working order.
- Maintain the cleanliness of school grounds, including sweeping pathways, picking up litter, and assisting with basic garden upkeep.
- Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively, reporting any malfunctions.
- Monitor cleaning supplies inventory and inform the appropriate personnel when restocking is required.
- Report any major maintenance issues, potential hazards, or safety concerns promptly to the school administration.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and school-specific cleaning protocols.
- Assist with setting up and tidying up for school events or activities as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in cleaning, janitorial, or general maintenance roles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and operating cleaning machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures related to cleaning and maintenance.
