Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and proactive Hotel Facilities Assistant to join the team of one of our esteemed hospitality partners located in the vibrant Ajao Estate, Lagos. As a pivotal member of the hotel’s operational team, you will be instrumental in the daily upkeep and preventative maintenance of the property, playing a direct role in enhancing the guest experience.

In this role, you will be the first line of defense against maintenance issues, from minor repairs to supporting larger projects. Your days will involve a diverse range of tasks, including electrical system checks, plumbing adjustments, basic carpentry, painting, and ensuring all common areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house facilities meet the highest standards of functionality and presentation. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, addressing issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct daily inspections of public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house facilities to ensure optimal operating conditions.
  • Execute minor repairs such as patching walls, changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and adjusting door locks.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, supplies used, and equipment serviced.
  • Assist with the setup and dismantling of event spaces, ensuring all facilities are functional and presentable.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and hotel standards.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in larger maintenance projects and renovations.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, reporting needs for replenishment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field, preferably within a hospitality setting.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common issues and perform minor fixes independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant technical vocational training or certification (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
