Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Energy Auditing Support Technician to join our client’s growing team in the NDG borough of Montreal. In this hybrid role, you will play a crucial part in evaluating energy consumption patterns and identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements across various residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will work closely with senior energy auditors, providing essential technical assistance from initial data collection through to final report generation. The Energy Auditing Support Technician will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections, gathering critical building data, and utilizing specialized diagnostic equipment to assess energy performance. This includes everything from analyzing utility bills to operating thermal cameras and blower door tests. You will assist in the development of comprehensive energy audit reports, outlining findings, recommended measures, and projected savings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to accuracy. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior energy auditors in conducting on-site energy assessments for various building types.
  • Collect and analyze relevant building data, including utility bills, architectural plans, and equipment specifications.
  • Operate and maintain specialized energy auditing equipment such as thermal cameras, blower doors, and data loggers.
  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify air leakage, insulation deficiencies, and HVAC system inefficiencies.
  • Document findings thoroughly, including measurements, photographic evidence, and initial observations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of detailed energy audit reports, executive summaries, and technical recommendations.
  • Support the development of energy conservation measures (ECMs) and calculate potential energy savings and return on investment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of energy codes, standards, and relevant incentive programs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards during all field activities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members regarding project status and findings.

Required Skills

  • Diploma or Certificate in Energy Management, Building Sciences, HVAC, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in building diagnostics, energy auditing, or a related technical support role.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing technical data.
  • Familiarity with energy auditing tools and equipment (e.g., thermal imaging, blower door testing).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits within the Montreal area.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), or similar.
  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., eQUEST, HOT2000, CanPHI).
  • Knowledge of Quebec building codes and energy efficiency programs (e.g., Transition énergétique Québec).
  • Experience working in residential, commercial, or industrial energy sectors.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
