Job Description

SIMBA Supermarket is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Retail Cashier to join our vibrant team in Nyabihu, Western Province. As the front-line face of our store, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and pleasant shopping experience for all our customers. This position requires someone who is not only proficient in handling transactions accurately but also genuinely enjoys interacting with people, resolving inquiries, and maintaining a positive atmosphere at the checkout counter.

You will be responsible for processing purchases, handling cash and card payments, issuing receipts, and providing information about products and promotions. Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card, and mobile payments, ensuring correct change and reconciliation.
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service, answering questions and resolving issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and assist with general store cleanliness.
- Assist customers with locating products and provide information about promotions and store policies.
- Scan items, bag purchases, and ensure a smooth checkout flow.
- Count and balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to loss prevention.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient store operations and a positive shopping environment.
- Assist with stocking shelves and merchandising displays as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and counting change.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 10 kg occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a retail, customer service, or cashier role.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to communicate in Kinyarwanda and basic English.
