Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Development Officer with a strong focus on local outreach to join our dynamic team in Hulme, Manchester. Key Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with residents, community groups, local businesses, and stakeholders in Hulme to identify community needs, strengths, and priorities.
  • Develop, plan, and implement community development projects and programmes that address identified needs and align with organisational goals.
  • Facilitate and lead community meetings, workshops, and events to encourage participation and build local capacity.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of partners, including local authorities, non-profits, and service providers.
  • Conduct needs assessments, gather data, and prepare reports on community issues and project outcomes to inform future strategies.
  • Support funding applications and secure resources for community initiatives.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community development initiatives, making adjustments as necessary for continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or social work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with diverse groups.
  • Strong project management abilities, including planning, execution, and evaluation of community initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and networks.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing community challenges.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the diverse needs and perspectives within a multicultural community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general IT literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working within the Hulme or wider Manchester area, with a strong understanding of local dynamics and community structures.
  • Experience in securing funding or writing grant applications for community projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant local policies and service provisions in Manchester.
  • Ability to speak additional languages relevant to the local community in Hulme.
