Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative, skilled, and passionate Pastry Chef specializing in cakes and desserts to join our dynamic culinary team at Izaak Walton Inn. Key Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and bake a diverse range of pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, and other desserts, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation.
- Develop new and innovative dessert recipes, incorporating seasonal ingredients and local flavors, to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
- Manage daily pastry production, including inventory control, ordering of ingredients, and minimizing waste.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in the pastry section, complying with HACCP principles.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other culinary team members to integrate pastry offerings with overall menu concepts and themes.
- Train and mentor junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure consistent quality control for all pastry items leaving the kitchen.
- Oversee the proper storage and handling of all pastry ingredients and finished products.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in cakes and desserts.
- Exceptional creativity and artistic flair in pastry design and decoration.
- In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or a related field.
