Key Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise the pool area to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all swimmers.
  • Enforce all pool rules, regulations, and safety policies consistently and courteously.
  • Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid incidents.
  • Administer CPR and first aid when necessary, maintaining calm and professional demeanor.
  • Conduct regular inspections of safety equipment (e.g., rescue tubes, first aid kits) and report any deficiencies.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and securing the pool area.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order around the pool deck, changing rooms, and facility common areas.
  • Educate patrons on water safety practices and answer questions about the facility.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and promptly.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service training sessions and staff meetings.

Required Skills

  • Valid Lifeguard certification (e.g., DLRG Silber or equivalent recognized qualification in Germany).
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
  • Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to react quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic.
  • Fluency in German (B2 level or higher) to communicate effectively with patrons and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a lifeguard in a public or private aquatic facility.
  • Experience working with diverse age groups, including children and seniors.
  • Additional certifications in areas such as Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or pool operations.
  • Proficiency in English or other languages.
