Career.zycto is on the hunt for a passionate and astute A&R Representative to join our burgeoning team, based in the vibrant Stourbridge area. As an A&R Representative, you will be the lifeblood of our operation, constantly scouting for new artists, producers, and songwriters across various genres, with a particular focus on emerging scenes in the West Midlands and beyond. You will be instrumental in identifying potential hitmakers, nurturing their creative journey, and helping them realize their full artistic and commercial potential.
Your role will extend far beyond simply spotting talent. You will be a crucial liaison between artists and our internal teams, guiding creatives through the recording process, advising on song selection, production, and overall artistic direction. This position demands a blend of artistic sensitivity, business acumen, and strong negotiation skills. You’ll be building robust relationships within the music industry – attending live shows, networking with managers, promoters, and other key figures to expand our talent pipeline. Key Responsibilities
- Proactively scout and identify new musical talent (artists, producers, songwriters) across various genres, both locally and internationally.
- Attend live performances, showcases, and industry events to discover and evaluate prospective artists.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, producers, and other industry professionals.
- Evaluate demos, online submissions, and artist portfolios with a critical ear for commercial viability and artistic integrity.
- Guide artists through the creative and recording process, offering feedback on song selection, production, and overall artistic direction.
- Negotiate and secure recording, publishing, and other relevant contracts with new talent.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, legal, and publicity teams to develop comprehensive artist development strategies.
- Monitor music trends, market shifts, and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
- Manage artist budgets and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally at all industry events and interactions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of A&R experience within a record label, publishing company, or talent management agency.
- Proven track record of identifying and signing successful artists or projects.
- Exceptional listening skills and a deep understanding of diverse music genres and current trends.
- Strong networking abilities and established industry contacts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in music industry standard software and digital platforms.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel frequently for scouting and meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working with emerging artists and developing their careers from an early stage.
- Knowledge of music publishing and intellectual property rights.
- Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
