Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Procurement Manager to join our operations in Bulawayo. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all procurement activities for National Foods Limited, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, packaging, and services critical to our manufacturing processes. The Senior Procurement Manager will play a crucial role in developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives, drive cost efficiencies, mitigate supply chain risks, and foster strong supplier relationships. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of global and local supply markets, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record in strategic sourcing within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will lead a dedicated procurement team, mentor staff, and champion best practices in ethical and sustainable procurement. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with business goals, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience.
- Lead negotiation efforts with key suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements for raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods/services.
- Manage and optimize the supplier base, including identification, evaluation, selection, and ongoing performance management of new and existing vendors.
- Monitor global and local market trends, commodity prices, and economic indicators to anticipate potential supply risks and opportunities.
- Implement and maintain robust procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance, transparency, and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, finance, logistics, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless supply chain operations and material availability.
- Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of professional growth and accountability.
- Oversee inventory levels in conjunction with production planning to optimize working capital while ensuring consistent supply.
- Manage procurement-related risk, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and regulatory changes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a senior management role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and complex contract negotiations.
- Expert knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management principles, and relevant local/international regulations.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze market data, cost models, and total cost of ownership.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
- Experience with sustainable and ethical procurement practices.
- Familiarity with import/export regulations and international trade for raw materials.
