Are you an experienced and meticulous CNC Lathe Operator with a passion for precision engineering? You will be primarily responsible for the precise setup, efficient operation, and proactive maintenance of our state-of-the-art CNC lathe machines. This includes interpreting intricate engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine optimal machining parameters and tool paths. Your daily tasks will involve selecting the correct cutting tools, fixturing, and materials, as well as loading and unloading workpieces with utmost care. A critical aspect of this role involves diligently monitoring machine operations, identifying and resolving any deviations or malfunctions promptly to ensure continuous production flow and product quality. You will also be expected to perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy and surface finish against design specifications.

Furthermore, this position requires a proactive approach to machine maintenance, including routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting to prevent breakdowns and extend machine lifespan. Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines according to specifications and production schedules.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and G-code programs accurately.
  • Select, install, and adjust appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from the machine.
  • Monitor machine operations for optimal performance, identifying and resolving issues such as tool wear, material defects, or program errors.
  • Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of CNC machines to ensure longevity and prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine alarms and performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate production records, machine logs, and quality control documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and fellow team members to optimize production processes and meet output targets.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Operator, including setup and operation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, materials, and measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with various types of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade certification or diploma in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for program interpretation or modification.
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate other machining equipment (e.g., milling machines) is a plus.
