Career.zycto is actively seeking motivated and diligent Street Sweeping Staff to join our vital team, dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Mission Hill, Vernon. This essential role involves operating specialized street sweeping equipment and performing manual cleaning tasks to ensure our public spaces, roads, and pathways are free from debris, litter, and other environmental hazards. Key Responsibilities
- Operate street sweeping equipment (e.g., mechanical sweepers, brush sweepers) safely and efficiently along designated routes.
- Perform manual sweeping, litter collection, and debris removal in areas inaccessible to machinery, including sidewalks, gutters, and public spaces.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Ensure proper disposal of collected waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Monitor assigned routes for unusual conditions, hazards, or maintenance requirements and report findings to supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and operational guidelines to ensure personal and public safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment and storage areas.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding daily tasks and challenges.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally while interacting with the public, answering basic inquiries or directing them to appropriate channels.
Required Skills
- Ability to operate heavy equipment or a strong aptitude to learn.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment checks and minor troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in street sweeping, general labor, or municipal services.
- Familiarity with waste management and recycling procedures.
- Knowledge of Vernon and Mission Hill's local geography and street layouts.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
