Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Consultant to join our dynamic team in Varsity, Calgary. This flexible-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainable development to contribute to diverse projects. You will play a pivotal role in providing expert advice, conducting detailed assessments, and developing innovative solutions for our clients across various sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, and industrial development. Our projects range from Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments to remediation planning, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact studies, offering a rich tapestry of experiences. You will be instrumental in guiding clients through environmental regulatory frameworks, risk management, and the implementation of best practices, ensuring projects are not only compliant but also environmentally responsible.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with provincial and federal guidelines.
- Manage and execute site investigations, including soil, groundwater, and soil vapor sampling programs.
- Interpret analytical data, prepare comprehensive technical reports, and provide practical recommendations.
- Develop and implement remediation strategies and monitoring programs.
- Assist clients with environmental regulatory compliance, permitting, and due diligence.
- Prepare proposals, project work plans, and cost estimates.
- Engage with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, fostering strong professional relationships.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Stay abreast of evolving environmental legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Alberta environmental legislation (e.g., AEP, AER).
- Proficiency in conducting ESAs (Phase I & II) and preparing detailed reports.
- Experience with contaminated site assessment and remediation principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation (P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., P.Ag. or similar).
- Experience with environmental impact assessments (EIAs) or risk assessments.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Experience in a consulting environment.
- Post-graduate degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
