Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Fire Safety Technician to join our operations team in Chipinge. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the ongoing functionality, compliance, and effectiveness of all fire detection, suppression, and prevention systems across our extensive estates and processing facilities. You will play a vital role in protecting our assets, employees, and the environment from fire hazards, adhering to both internal safety protocols and national regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in fire safety systems, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety standards in a dynamic industrial and agricultural setting. This is an on-site position, crucial for maintaining a secure and hazard-free operational environment within our Chipinge facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of all fire safety equipment and systems, including fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting.
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of faulty fire safety equipment and systems promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure all fire safety systems comply with relevant national safety standards, company policies, and best industry practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs performed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of fire safety training programs for employees.
- Support emergency response teams during fire incidents, including the operation of fire suppression equipment.
- Recommend improvements to existing fire safety measures and assist in the installation of new systems.
- Conduct risk assessments related to fire hazards and propose preventative actions.
Required Skills
- Proven technical knowledge of various fire detection and suppression systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing fire safety equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical fitness to perform duties, including lifting and working in various environments.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Fire Safety, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Safety, IFE Level 2/3).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire safety systems maintenance within an industrial or agricultural setting.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean fire safety regulations and standards.
- Experience with permit-to-work systems and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
