Key Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and engage in stimulating activities such as conversations, reading, games, and hobbies.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks, including tidying living areas, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Support clients with personal care reminders (e.g., medication prompts, hydration).
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, social outings, and community events, providing safe transportation or walking assistance.
- Help with grocery shopping and other household management tasks.
- Observe and report any changes in the client's physical condition, behavior, or mood to the appropriate contact.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients.
- Respect client privacy and dignity, adhering to all confidentiality guidelines.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to client preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to promote a positive outlook.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a caregiving or companion role (professional or personal)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of empathy, patience, and compassion
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification (e.g., Health Care Aid, Personal Support Worker, Home Support Worker)
- Experience with individuals living with dementia or other cognitive impairments
