Job Description
ELDOWAS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator with a strong background in the engineering field to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves supporting our engineering department in the successful planning, execution, and monitoring of various water and sanitation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget by facilitating seamless communication, managing documentation, tracking progress, and coordinating resources.
As a Project Coordinator, you will act as a central point of contact for project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams. You will play a crucial role in maintaining project schedules, preparing comprehensive reports, assisting with budget management, and ensuring that all project activities align with our strategic objectives and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple engineering projects.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track progress, ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks and proactively address potential issues.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, including preparing and distributing project reports and minutes.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation, and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, progress reports, and contracts.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and external regulations pertinent to water and sanitation engineering projects.
- Facilitate effective communication channels among project team members, contractors, and external partners.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Project Coordinator in an engineering, construction, or related technical field.
- Solid organizational skills, including strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and project lifecycle stages.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Water, Environmental), Project Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2 Foundation).
- Experience within the water and wastewater utility sector or public infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of local regulations and standards related to infrastructure development in Kenya.
